Caleb von Jabora is one of the promising young males from Jabora kennels. Although his anatomy is very good and his colours are beautiful, his gait is his most impressing quality. German judges used Caleb to demonstrate the audiance how the gait of a German Shepherd Dog should be.

The carrousel below shows the gait of Caleb. When he runs just two feet have contact with the ground: the left front- and hindleg or the right front- and hindleg. He lifts his frontlegs very high and streches them. Compare this with the gait of Quint von Jabora (picture on top of the grey sidebare of this page). You'll see that Quint often touches the ground with three of his feet simultaneously.
The correct proportions of height to length and corresponding length of the leg bones results in a ground-eating gait that is low to the ground and imparts an impression of effortless progression. With his head thrust forward and a slightly raised tail, a balanced and even trotter will have a topline that falls in moderate curves from the tip of the ears over the neck and level back through the tip of the tail.

Grown-up males - 24 months and older - are being presented in a ring with the size of a footballfield! This means that both dog and handler have to be in perfect physical condition.
Grown-up females - 24 months and older - are being presented in a ring with half the size of a footballfield.
Younger males and females are presented in a ring with the size of a fourth part of a footballfield.
So, handling dogs is a great workout!

Callers run outside the ring and the audience and they try to get the dog´s attention. A dog that´s looking for his caller shows himself the best. You´ll understand that there will be a lot of noise when there are 40 to 50 dogs in the ring and 40 to 50 caller outside that ring. All those callers have the same goal: get the dog´s attention, does not matter how!
